Turnbull Stakes

There are 20,822 people here to see Winx, but I’m not one of them. I’m here for the first two-year-old of the season. There are two very nice looking horses, Nomothaj and Sunlight, but I have a preference for Nomothaj with her head in towards the strapper, whereas the strapper uses two hands on Sunlight. I was pretty pleased with $1.80 first up for nearly five months!

But I did have a look at Winx. And you would have to say the horse is fit, with good lines and not a spare ounce of fat. Even some dapples, if you fancy coat condition. Why do folk get so excited? It’s not as if the horse is backable.

And the island bar is coming on. But what a disaster is looming in a few weeks time. I had enough trouble making my way from the stalls to the yard with twenty thousand. It’s going to be five times as hard on Cup day.

In Sydney R3 (only 3 runners, all trained by Chris Waller) the winner Alward looked the most relaxed. No place betting so I had a rare win bet and got $3.70 on BF. In Melbourne R4, Keen Array looked very relaxed on my iPhone, head down and swinging in toward the strapper. Paid $2.80 a place on BF. Still no racing.com screen in the Randwick public betting ring. It’s risky relying on a 10-second view but sometimes you can spot a good one.

Hello Geoff. Just checking to see if you have stirred into action for the not-so-far-away spring carnival. Have had reason to mention your book(s) to a number of people recently… and also continuing to have success with pre-race behaviour watching over here. Found one called Orange Strudel ($21/$4.30) and another called My Naughty Blonde ($5.00 place) at Belmont today (Wed 11 Oct) …plus 2 others at lesser prices. All in all an over the top day…. in the best manner possible… hope you are in good health and enjoying life. May get there for the Cox Plate or the Emirates (whatever it is called now) with a bit of luck…
